AFPAC launched its Quality Actions for heat pumps in France

May. 25, 2007 - On 5 April, 2007 , AFPAC (French Heat Pump Association, member of EHPA) launched its Quality Actions for heat pumps in France , in presence of an assembly of energy and heat pump stakeholders and professional journalists .

After five years of preliminary work focused on improvement of structure and professionalism of the French heat pumps market, AFPAC , under the patronage of ADEME ( French governmental Energy Agency), has announced the official launch of its Quality Actions that are based on three levels :

• Training of heat pumps installers with a training curriculum achieved in the framework of EUCERT project. Four technical centres carry out the training course: Costic, Coprotec, Greta du Roannais, and Pole Cristal Dinan. Next year other centres could join according to the success of this training course.

• Quality of heat pump machines with the creation of a NFPAC label, built by AFAC-AFNOR Certification, and managed by Certita. This label sets values for minimum COP according to the type of heat pump, and COP measurements must be carried out by a laboratory accredited by a European body having signed the "European co-operation for Accreditation".

• Quality of installation with the launch of QUALIPAC, aimed to heat pumps installers. QUALIPAC installers should have passed the EUCERT exam, and its installation will be randomly checked (1 upon 25, each year) by an independent body on a AFPAC standard basis.

More information are to be found on the AFPAC website.
